The 2019 Buffalo Humanities Festival brings Rolling Stone journalist and New York Times bestselling author Matt Taibbi back to town for his take on this year’s theme – Democracy: Of the people? By the people? For the people?

Author of The Great Derangement, Griftopia, The Divide, Insane Clown President, and I Can’t Breathe, Matt Taibbi co-founded the Buffalo-based alternative bi-weekly newspaper The Beast in 2002.  He went on to work as a columnist for the New York Press, and in 2004 he began covering politics for Rolling Stone. For the past 15 years, Taibbi’s unique journalistic voice has provided insights into politics, the wealth gap, racial injustice, and the role of the media in our current times.

His new book Hate Inc: Why Today’s Media Makes us Despise One Another will be released on October 8th.

A book signing will conclude the evening.  A selection of Taibbi’s books will be available for purchase on-site courtesy of Talking Leaves Books.
